My Favorite Projects from 2016

Untitled

I was looking back at all of my projects I have posted in 2016 and have picked out some of my favorites.  I have cards, scrapbook pages and a couple 3D projects.  If you would like more information on any of these projects, just click the link below the pictures.

My first card I picked has one of my favorite designer series paper, Blooms and Bliss and uses the Time of the Year stamp set.  Of course, there is a little bit of sparkle on it with the flower made with Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.

As you can tell by all the other projects I have made, I love the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper.  This is a scrapbook layout that you don't use any stamps to create.  This is a great layout to use for making kits.

To make this layout you will need the following items:

Floral Boutique Designer Washi Tape #141664

Here are pictures of the individual pages for you to see them easier.

Celebrate Scrapbook Page

FullSizeRender 2

Last week I had my scrapbooking class, it was a small class, but a fun class.  One of the ladies who attended my class absolutely loves the Jar of Love stamp set and matching framelits.  I had seen a layout similar to this one and thought of her right away.  I really like how it came out.  Do you like Mason jars?

To make this layout you will need the following items:

12" z 12" Regals Cardstock #131188

  • two 12 x 12 pages of Elegant Eggplant

12" x 12" Neutrals Cardstock #131187

  • cut 2 at 1" x 12" in Smoky Slate

In Color 12" x 12" Cardstock #141412

  • cut 2 at 1" x 12" in Sweet Sugarplum
  • cut 3 at 3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • cut 2 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"

Elegant Eggplant Cardstock #105126

  • 2" x 4 1/2"

Whisper White 12" x 12" Card Stock #124302

  • cut 4 at 3" x 12"

Regals Designer Series Paper Stack #138436

  • cut 2 at 2 1/2" x 12" in Elegant Eggplant

The reason you will need 4  3" x 12" pieces of Whisper White card stock is for the following:

  • 2 will be for the bottom piece on the page layouts with the mason jar stamped on them
  • 1 for Celebrate
  • 1 for 4 mason jars cut out with the matching framelits Everyday Jar and the flowers, bow and little tags.

When you start adhering your paper to the 12 x 12 Elegant Eggplant paper you can put your paper at the following measurements and in the following order to get the same look as I did.

  • adhere the white card stock even with the bottom of your paper ***
  • adhere the 2 1/2" x 12" Designers Series Paper at 5" from the top of the page
  • adhere the Sweet Sugarplum piece at 7 1/8" from the top
  • adhere the Smoky Slate piece at 8 1/8" from the top

*** make sure you stamp your images before you adhere your paper.  If you make a mistake, just flip your paper over and try again.

I used dimensionals on the jars that are decorated to make them pop a little off the page.

Here are close ups of the two pages.

I hope you like this page just as much as Stacy did!

Bunch of Blossoms Scrapbook Page

  IMG_6741        IMG_6742

This is the scrapbook pages that I told you about on Wednesday. This style is very different than what I usually do, but I still really like it.  My inspiration for this came from a card a fellow demonstrator, Chris Galbraith, created.  I kept looking at her card over and over again, I was totally mesmerized by it.  To me it was very calming and just down right beautiful.

I contacted Chris and asked her if I could use her card to create a scrapbook page and she said absolutely.  I was so happy.  I had a lot of fun creating this layout.  I first started with 2 - 12  x 12 sheets of Pear Pizzazz card stock as my base.  I wanted to use the same colors as Chris did, which were Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party.  I added Chocolate Chip to sponge around the Very Vanilla card stock and the Pool Party Designer Series Paper Stack (the blue paper with writing on it) to  soften up the pages even more.

To make these layouts you will need the following measurements:

Chocolate Chip Card Stock #102128

  • cut at 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut at 4" x 11"

Peekaboo Peach Card Stock #141417

  • cut at 3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"

Pool Party Card Stock #122924

  • cut at 3 1/4" x  3 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"

Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650

  • 6" x 10 1/2"
  • scraps for the flowers and leaves

Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack #138437

  • cut at 3" x 12"

To make the background on the Very Vanilla paper I used the fern from the Butterfly Basics stamp set stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink.  I would stamp it at full strength and then stamp off about 2-3 times before reinking.  I then sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink and I also did the DSP stack too.

To make the flowers I used Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party inks and the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.  This stamp set has 3 steps to make a flower.  You will stamp the outline of the flower first as this will make lining up the other two stamps a lot easier.    Then you will use the stamp I call the definition stamp (this one gives the flower more color in certain areas).  The final stamp, which covers the whole area,  you will want to stamp off first because you want this to be light in color.  Guess what !  There is a matching punch to go with this stamp set!  I love punches!  They are so fast and easy, which will be very nice with the amount of flowers you are making.

I hope you enjoy this layout as much as I have designing it for you.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

I saw a beautiful card on Pinterest that caught my eye and I kept thinking wouldn't this be great as a scrapbook page.  The first thing I saw was the Very Vanilla paper in the center stamped with an image from the Grateful Bunch stamp set. This came out so soft looking. It looks so pretty in person, but I just couldn't get it to show up in the pictures like I wanted. You are going to have to trust me on this one.

I went to my craft table and started playing and this is what I came up with. I love it! I used Crumb Cake ink on all the Very Vanilla paper and the Crumb Cake background and I also used Blushing Bride ink on the Blushing Bride paper.  The design on the 12 x 12 Crumb Cake paper is a stamp from the Grateful Bunch stamp.  This set has a matching punch which is great when you have so many flowers on a page.

To make this page you will need to start with two 12 x 12 sheets of Crumb Cake Card Stock.  Then you will need the following items:

Blushing Bride Card Stock #131198

  • cut 4 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut 1 at 3 1/4" x 5 1/4"
  • scraps for the flowers

Very Vanilla Card stock #101650

  • cut 2 at 4" x 12"
  • scraps for the flowers

You will notice that there are a lot of flowers on this page.  You will need 12 total in Blushing Bride - 8 big, 2 medium and 2 little.  For the Very Vanilla flowers you are going to need a total of 15 - 8 large, 4 medium and 3 little.  The nice thing about the Blossom Bunch Punch is that it punches out 3 flowers at one time and  all three flowers are on one stamp!  It is so nice!  I used different sizes of pearls to put in the middle of the flowers.  It added the final touch that was needed to the page.

I  am always looking at cards to get other ideas for projects and even other cards.  Both of the page layouts I did for scrapbooking class were inspired by cards.   My other page is a different style than I usually make, but I really like it. I will have it for you in the next day or two.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

Botanical Gardens/Floral Boutique Scrapbooking Pages

                                              IMG_6500

Oh My Goodness!  I am in love with these two pages!!!!  They are so much brighter and prettier in person and there is NO STAMPING!  I tried to capture it in the picture, but it just wasn't happening.

All of you know how much I love the Floral Boutique DSP, so  I had to use it again.  I wanted to add another color to the Night of Navy and the Whisper White.  I ended up going with Cherry Cobbler, and boy am I glad I did.  It turned out better than I thought it would.

Do you see how the white section of the page looks smaller than the DSP paper on the bottom?  Well, they are actually the same size!!  I wanted to get two pieces out of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper, so I had to cut it in half.  I also wanted to have it look bigger than the white, but how can I do this?

The first thing you need to do is cut the Cherry Cobbler strip across the page at  1 1/4" x 12".  Then adhere the Floral Boutique paper to the bottom section of your 12 " x 12" Whisper White Paper.  This is a time when it is great to use the grid paper if you have it.  You are going to put your Whisper White paper on the grid paper making sure the paper is lined up on the left hand side and bottom.  You are then going to take you Cherry Cobbler strip of paper and line it up so that the top of the strip is at 7".  You will then adhere it the paper.

You now have the DSP up 6" on the Whisper White paper and the Cherry Cobbler strip at the 7" mark on your grid paper (yo can use a ruler if you don't have our grid paper.  I highly recommend it!!!  I use it daily for some many things.  When you have all that done your Whisper White section is 5 inches!  How clever is that!!  By doing it this way you will be able to get two pages done with one sheet of DSP paper!  I am all about saving paper.

I have one more tip for you today!  In the Flourish Thinlits set there is this really pretty decorative strip, but it is only 5" long.  Well, how am I going to make that work when my paper is 12" long.  The end of the dies can't butt up to each other because it doesn't make the same design.  What am I going to do?  Then a light bulb went off!!  What if I over lap them, lining them up perfectly, will you be able to see it? NOPE!  Yay!!! I was so excited.  I used 3 of the strips to make the detailed decoration on top of the blue strip of paper in the center of the pages.  What do you think?  Isn't it pretty?

I used the Botanical Builder Framelits to cut out all of the flowers I used on this page.

You will need the following measurements to create this layout:

Whisper White 12 " x 12" Card Stock #124302

  • you will need 2 sheets
  • scraps of paper for the strips (you will need 6 of them) and the centers of the flowers

Cherry Cobbler Card Stock #119685

  • cut 2 at 1 1/4" x 12" you will need to use #131188 (12 x 12 paper)
  • cut 3 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • scraps for the flowers

Night of Navy Card Stock #100867

  • cut 2 at 3/4" x 12" you will need to use #131188 (12 x 12 paper)
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • cut 3 at 3" x 4 1/4"
  • scraps for the flowers

I did not pop any of the flowers on this page. I used snail adhesive on all of the paper.

Here are pictures of the pages up close so you can see the detail better.

                                 IMG_6499

I just realized the bottom picture is upside down.  LOL  The more I look at it the more I like it that way too.  You can just flip flop all you want, use different paper and you could have a lot of different designs!  Sometimes our mistakes come out better than we had originally planned.

I have busy week this week as we are painting Erica's room and getting it ready for her to move back home Labor Day weekend. Erica has been in an apartment with her friend, which she loved, but realized she is never home.  So, being smart about money, she thought why spend money on rent when I am not there?  I will just move back with mom and dad!  I would too!

I am also working on my Technique Class projects for class on Saturday!  It is going to be messy but fun!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

Summer Fun Scrapbook Page

                                               IMG_6503

It is summer, so we had to do a Summer Fun page in my Scrapbooking Class!  I had a lot of fun with this page.  I saw the layout, I am sorry I don't remember where, and loved it.  This layout has a little bit from a few stamp sets, dies and punches.

To make the ice cream cone I used the stamp set Sprinkles of Life and used the Tree Builder punch to punch out the ice cream scoops for the cone.  You will have to fussy cut the ice cream cone itself but it is pretty easy.

To make the flowers on the right hand page I used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. I cut one of the flowers from Real Red Card Stock and one from the Brights Designer Series Stack.  I also used the butterfly thinly to cut out the two butterflies on the right hand page near the top.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to get the Large Letters Framelits, but then I thought of scrapbooking and knew I had to have them.  They are perfect size for this page.  I stamped them and around the ice cream cone with a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

The little lady bugs on the lower right hand corner are from the Love you Lots stamp set.  I stamped it using Stazon on ink and colored them with the Real Red Marker.  I then punched it out using the 1 1/4" circle punch.

You will need the following measurements to make these scrapbook pages

Crumb Cake Card Stock #120953

  • scrap for ice cream cone

Daffodil Delight 12 x 12 Card Stock #131186

  • you will need two sheets
  • scrap for the ice cream scoop

Real Read 12 x 12 Card Stock #131186

  • cut at 6 of 3/4" x 12"
  • 3" x 5" for the flower

Soft Suede Card Stock #115318

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" left page
  • cut 2 at 3 3/4" x 5" left page
  • cut at 3" 4 3/4" right page
  • cut at 4" x 6 1/4" right page
  • scrap for the ice cream scoop

Pink Pirouette Card Stock #111351

  • scrap for the ice cream scoop

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 2 at 8 1/5" x 10 1/8"
  • scraps for the letters, ice cream scoop and the lady bugs

Brights Designer Series Paper Stack #138434 (I had the flower side of the paper)

  • 3" x 5" for the flower
  • scraps for the butterflies

Here is a list of the color of inks I used:

Ice Cream Cone - Soft Suede

Ice Cream Scoops - Daffodil Delight, Real Read and Soft Suede

Lady Bugs - Stazon Ink and colored with Real Red Markers

Letters - Daffodil Delight and Real Red

I used the retired Trio Corner Punch for the corners of  the large white paper and Thick Baker's Twine in White for the bow on the flowers.

I used dimensionals under the ice cream scoops and the lady bugs.

Here are pictures of the individual pages for you to see them better.

Mosaic Scrapbook Page

                       IMG_5980-2

In my scrapbooking classes we make two 2 page layouts and this is one of the page layouts we made in my June class.  It is a simple but yet fun page.  I had just gone through my first order from the Annual Catalog and saw this paper.  I liked it in the catalog, but I really like it in person.  It is so pretty and the colors are so bright and cheerful.  I also love all the different designs, so I had a hard time figuring out which ones to use on this project.

I wanted something colorful and would stand out, but take the attention away from the pictures.  These two patterns are subtle enough, but add a lot to the page.  When I had it finished I just had the Dapper Denim square in the middle and it looked too plain.  I experimented with a bunch of different things, 3-D flowers, sentiments, other DSP paper, embossing and nothing worked.  I think I was over thinking it,  so I went back to simple.  I really liked this one from the Flower Patch stamp set.  Simple, but cute!

You are going to make the same page twice. You can either leave them the same next to each other or turn one of them for a different look. You will see in the picture below that I kept mine the same.

To make this card you will need the following items:

Cajun Craze 12 x 12 Card Stock #131188

Early Espress Card Stock #119686

  • cut four at 4 3/8" x 5 1/2"

Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650

  • cut four at 4 3/8" x 5 1/2"

Dapper Denim Card Stock #141414

  • cut at 2 3/8" 2 3/8"

Moroccan Designer Series Paper #141645

  • cut 4 at 1 1/4 x 4 3/8

I would suggest you lay everything out on your 12 x12 paper to get the spacing correct before you start adhering them to the paper.  I have about 1/8" between each piece.

Here is a picture of how they look together.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  We are in Pennsylvania visiting Mark's family for his niece's graduation.  It is always nice to see everyone, especially since we don't get there as often as we want to.

Thank you for stopping by!

Floral Boutique Scrapbooking Page

                                  IMG_5979-2
                                 Left Side Page

I had my second Scrapbooking Class last night and I am really having fun designing these pages.  I haven't scrapbooked in a very long time, really since I started selling Stampin' Up! which has been over 3 years.  I had a group of my customers ask if I could start teaching classes and I was absolutely!

On this page I wanted to use the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and Flourish Thinlets from the new Annual Catalog.  I feel in love with the Floral Boutique Suite on page 77 (is it bad that I know the page number by heart already?) as soon as I saw it.  I had a problem with what DSP do I use, they are all so beautiful.  I ended up using only a little section of the paper on this page.  You will definitely be seeing this paper a lot in the future.

The above picture is of the left side page of a 2 page layout and below is the right side page of the layout.   To make both pages you will need the following items:

Night of Navy 12 x 12 Card Stock #131188

  • you will need 2 12 x 12 pieces plus
  • cut 2 at 1/4" x 12"

Night of Navy Card Stock #100867

  • cut 4 at 4" x 6"
  • cut at 3" x 3 1/4" - this is for the sentiment on the right hand page

Whisper White 12 x 12 Card Stock #124302

  • cut at 3/4" x 12

 Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 4 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut one at just under 2" x 4 1/4" - this is for the tag
  • cut at 3" x 3" - this is for the flower on the left hand page
  • cut at 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" - this is for the flower on the right hand page
  • cut at 3 x 3 1/4" - this is for the scallop oval

Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper #141663

  • cut 2 at 1 1/4" x 12 "

When I finished putting this page all put together, it was just missing something, but what?  I kept looking at it and couldn't figure it so I walked away for a few minutes.  Do you do that when you are struggling with a page?  When I came back I figured it out!!! The Night Of Navy 12 x 12 sheets needed something on them, they were too plain.  I used Night of Navy ink and the stamp set Falling Flowers (the medium size flower) to add a little design to it.  I love using the same color of ink and paper together.

I have some hints for you when you make these pages.

  • Use the precision plate for cutting out both of the flowers.
  • On the bigger flower on the right hand page I ended up using the dryer sheet method to get it off the framelit.  The Big Shot Brush was just not getting it out and it was ripping.  It could just be my framelit.
  • I used the Big Shot Brush on the flower on the left hand page
  • I used the fine tip glue pen to adhere both of the flowers
  • I used white embossing powder for the sentiment on the right hand page
  • I used dimensionals to attach the tag
