Last weekend I went to the Stampin Sisters Retreat in Rockford IL.  We had such a great time.  I went with two of my good friends, Beth and Mary.  This was Mary's first time and she loved it too!  We are definitely going back again next year.  Actually, I loved it so much that I am going to be having my first retreat in September.  It will be a one day retreat, I want to work up to a weekend retreat, that is going to be packed with fun projects and goodies.  Watch out for more details.

This is a picture of all of us.  There were 95 of us!

This is a picture of my tablemates, Beth, Mary, myself and Kim.  It was so wonderful meeting Kim and spending time with her.

When Beth and I went last year, Margie and Maxine were our tablemates.  They are so fun and loved seeing them again.  We were lucky to have them sititing at the table next to us.  So, we still got to spend some time with them.

This is a good  picture of Mary and I.  We took so many, because we couldn't stop laughing.  We had the same shirt, this was planned, and the same glasses.  That was not planned!

I love this picture of us!  We were laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes.

Here is a picture of Beth and I on the last day.  It was so wonderful spending time with her, she lives almost 10 hours from me.  I am hoping to see her again soon.

Young Boy Birthday Card using Geared Up Garage

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Geared Up Garage stamp set #148482, Garage Gears Thinlits #148521, Classic Garage Metal Elements #148485, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

Any young boy would be happy to get this card for their birthday.  I made this card for my great nephew, who's birthday is next week.  All week you have seen me use the Geared Up Garage stamp set in different ways.  For this card, I used the stamp set again, however, I added another stamp set, Perennial Birthday, for the sentiment.

Did you notice the paper under the card?  It is a sheet from the Classic Garage 6" x 6" designer series paper!  Did you also notice the gears on the card are the same ones on the paper?  How cool is that!  Yesterday on my Stampin Scrapper Facebook page, I shared a tip on how to cut out the images on the paper.  If you didn't see it on my page, here it is.

For the sentiment I first stamped the background image with a stamp from the Geared Up Garage stamp set.  I used the Gray Granite ink and stamped my image off on a scrap piece of paper first, before I stamped it on the Whisper White cardstock.  I then stamped the sentiment with Black Memento ink.  On the inside of the card and on my envelope I stamped the image you see in the picture above.  I, then popped the Real Red circle using Stampin Dimensionals and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the gears.

To make this card you will need the following paper.  For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.

Cardstock:

Crushed Curry

  • cut at 4 1/4" x 11" score at 5 1/2"

Basic Black

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Real Red

  • a piece of scrap paper for a 2" circle

Whisper White

  • a piece of scrap paper for the 1 3/4" circle
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

While I was editing my photos yesterday, I decided to play a little bit.  I have never done a picture in a shape other than a square or rectangle.  This time I decided to try a circle.    I have to say, I like it.

I love the gears on this card, but I didn't think about how many I would have to cut out on the Big Shot for 12 people making 4 cards each!!  I cut out 96 of them!  No wonder my arm got so tired, that I had to start using my other arm.

Here is a picture of the same card using a different piece of designer series paper.

Our family loves to shop on Black Friday.  We have Mr Wonderful go and get us at least 3 newspapers for all the ads and coupons and sit and figure our game plan.  We have so much fun spending time together and shopping.  I look forward to it every year.  This year will be different as we are in Texas, so it will be fun to experience it here.

I know we are going to be doing more of it online this year as we don't want to have to try and fit everything in our suitcases.  I don't think our wonderful Mr. Brown Man (UPS driver) will be very happy with us.  LOL

Now you can sit and have fun shopping a great sale for your crafting supplies or to do Christmas shopping for your friends and family all while sitting in your comfy chair.  Not sure what to get the people on your shopping list?  I have gift certificates available too.

Spirited Snowmen

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Spirited Snowmen stamp set #148072, Blizzard Thinlits #147902, Under The Mistletoe designer series paper #146921, Layering Circle Framelits #141705, 2 1/4" Circle Punch #143720, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

All of you probably already know that I love snowmen, so, of course, the Spirited Snowmen stamp set was the first one I bought from the holiday catalog.  Isn't this snowman just so stinkin cute?  He looks so happy and ready to have fun playing in the snow.

My product(s) of the week this week is all of the adhesives that Stampin' Up! sells.  I wanted to make a card that I used multiple types of adhesives so I can show you where and how I use them.  On this card I used the following adhesives:

  • Snail - Under The Mistletoe designer series paper, Real Red cardstock under the designer series paper, snowman
  • Glue Dots - snowflakes
  • Stampin Dimensionals - Real Red cardstock under the snowman

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Spirited Snowmen stamp set #148072, Blizzard Thinlits #147902, Under The Mistletoe designer series paper #146921, Layering Circle Framelits #141705, 2 1/4" Circle Punch #143720, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

To make this card you will need the following paper.  For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.

Cardstock:

Old Olive

  • cut at 5 1/2" x8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Real Red

  • cut at 2 1/4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut at 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Whisper White

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4" - one for inside the card and one to cut out the snowflakes
  • cut at 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper

  • cut at 2" x 5"

To color the snowman I used the Early Espresso, Gray Granite, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Shaded Spruce Stampin Markers.  I added Wink of Stella to the fur on his hat and his body.  When you use Wink of Stella around red ink, you need to be careful not to touch the red ink because it will bleed with the Wink of Stella.  I don't think you want a pink snowman.

To add a little bit of bling to my card, I added a Rhinestone in the middle of the snowflakes.

Stamp 'N Hop Blog Hop - Masculine

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Heartland stamp set #143892, Sunshine Sayings stamp set #141594, Watercolor Pencils #141709, Blender Pens #102845, Wood Textures designer series paper #144177, Layering Oval Framelits #141706, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

Welcome to our Stamp 'N Hop blog hop!  This month our theme is masculine projects.  You have just come from Vicky Wright's post, isn't her project beautiful!

The other day I was in the mood to color, so I went through my stamp sets and picked out a couple to use.  I didn't have any particular style in mind, I just wanted to color.  I colored some other images, but I kept looking at this one from the Heartland stamp set.  This barn reminds me so much of the farm where I grew up.  Since our theme was masculine, I thought of my dad right away.  He would have loved this card.

When I first started designing the card, I had just the black cardstock over the image, but it was missing something, I just didn't know what.  I didn't want to use an embossing folder, I wanted something different.  I was looking at my designer paper, seeing if I could get any ideas there, and that is when I saw the Wood Textures paper.  Once I found the paper, then I had to decide which one to use.  There were so many that would have worked, but I like how this one has some brown, black and gray colors in it.  I have all of those colors in the image, so it was the perfect one to use.  I love how it makes the barn image really stand out.

StampinUpHeartlandstampsetStampNHopBlogHopStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman2

I used our Watercolor Pencils with the Blending Pens to color the image.  Remember, when you use watercolors you need to Stazon ink when you stamp your images.  Otherwise, your stamped images will bleed into your coloring.

For the Happy Birthday sentiment I used the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and stamped it with Real Red ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  I cut it out using the Layering Oval Framelits.

I hope you are enjoying all the other beautiful projects on this blog hop.  You can click on the button below to go to Linda's post.  I know you are going to love her project.

Rooted In Nature and Flourishing Phrases CT#155

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Rooted In Nature stamp set #146482, Flourishing Phrases stamp set #141534, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinsraper.com, Joyce Whitman

I had to make another sympathy card for one of my aunts as my uncle passed away unexpectedly.  I don't like having to make these type of cards,  I don't think anyone does, but when I do I try to make them as a reflection of the person who passed.  My aunt and uncle were suppose to go spend the weekend at the campground with all of their family, but God had different plans for them.   They spent the weekend together, just not in the place they thought they would.

For this card I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set and used the sentiment in the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.  As I was making this card, I kept thinking of my uncles smile and laugh.  I will always remember that about him.  Great memories!

Here is my inspiration card for this weeks CASEing Tuesday

34199907_10213552857790195_6254417666623143936_n

The card I made this week is an easy design that you could make for any occasion.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Cardstock:

Crumb Cake

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Very Vanilla

  • cut at 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" for the trees

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Rooted In Nature stamp set #146482, Flourishing Phrases stamp set #141534, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinsraper.com, Joyce Whitman

To make the trees I used 3 of our  Stampin Write Markers.  I first inked the trees with the Shaded Spruce marker and then dabbed the tip of the Mossy Meadow marker randomly on top of the Shaded Spruce ink.  The trunks of the trees were colored with the Early Espresso marker.  A tip I have for you is when you use markers to color your stamps, make sure you huff on your stamp before you stamp your image on your paper.  You need to make sure your ink hasn't dried on your stamp as it takes longer to color them with markers than an ink pad.

On the Crumb Cake card base I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp the leaf images.  I was trying to figure out what to use to make the grass on the bottom and then remembered there was a grass stamp in the Enjoy Life stamp set.  I used the Shaded Spruce ink to stamp the grass.  To decorate my envelope I stamped one of the trees on the bottom left hand corner.
