It's Friday! So, you know what that means. Time for my Fall Friday project! This week's project is a card that I made with the Love of Leaves stamp set from the annual catalog. I was looking for another stamp set, when I saw this stamp set on my shelf and realized that I had totally forgotten about it. Have you done that too?
One of the ways I like to get inspiration for my projects is to look out my craft room window. This time I noticed that the leaves are just starting to change colors. That made me think of the colors in the trees, when all the leaves are full color. They are so pretty. I love how God gives us such beautiful colors in the fall. It is one of the reasons that fall is my favorite season.
I had so many different colors on my desk, but finally, I ended up narrowing it down to the colors above. Do they remind you of fall?
I used a technique I hadn't used in a very long time, the thumping technique. You can do this technique two ways. On both of them you start with putting ink on your stamp, I used either Crushed Curry or Pumpkin Pie, and then you add color to it. You can use a Stampin' Write marker or a dauber to do this technique. You tap (thump) the marker or dauber, with ink on it, on to the stamp with different colors. This is going to give you a variety of colors when you stamp your image. One tip I have for you is before you stamp your image, make sure you huff on it. You need to make sure that all of the ink is moist to get a nice image. This time I used a dauber as I wanted to have the textured look of real leaves.
One thing that I love about the dies, Stitched Leaves, is that on the leaves you can cut them out, only emboss them or do both. On the leaves that are stamped directly on the Basic White cardstock I just embossed them. On the two leaves that I stamped and the copper leaf, I cut and embossed them at the same time. I love the look of just the embossing on the stamped leaves.
To make this project you will need the following paper. For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.
- cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
- cut at 1/4" x 5 1/4"
- cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
- cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
- cut at 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Copper Foil Sheets
- cut at 1" x 2 1/4"
I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink and added a triple bow that I made with Linen Thread.
Are the leaves changing in your area yet? I can't wait until they are at their peak of color here in Ohio.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Sending everyone lots of love and hugs.
