Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, Gather Together, Gathered Leaves dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Floating Frame, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I was looking through some of my cards that I had previously made before I started doing my blog to get ideas on what to share with you on my Facebook live on Monday.  I came across a card that I actually had made recently, but for some reason never did a blog post about it.  The technique I used is called Floating Frame.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, A Wild Rose, Wild Rose dies, Stitched Shapes dies, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanThese are the first two cards that I made with the technique.  I really like how they came out.

On Monday night on my Facebook live how showed how to make cards using the Floating Frame technique.  I made them as a fall card this time and love how they turned out.

The internet cut me off during my live, so it is in two videos.  The second one is not very long.

Part 1

Part 2

To make this card you will need the following paper.  For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.

Have you ever looked at a card and fell in love with it immediately?  I saw this card online and fell in love immediately.  I don't remember who created it, but if it is yours or you know who did,  please let me know so I can give her/him credit.  I love to color so this was right up my alley.  The Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Magnolia Memory dies are perfect for coloring.  You know what else is awesome? You can get the stamp set and dies as a bundle and safe 10%!  I love when Stampin' Up! offers bundles.

For the pink card, I used the Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow - both dark and light - Stampin Blends.  I love these markers, they are perfect for coloring different layers of color on your projects.

For the blue card, I used the Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Mossy Meadow - both dark and light - Stampin Blends.

What is really nice is I used one sheet of paper.   This one of the simple stamping cards, which is ink, paper and stamps.  You will need

Whisper White Thick

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

I stamped the flowers and the sentiment with Memento Ink and then used the Stampin Blends for all the coloring.

I like to start with the darkest color first and go to the lightest color when I color in an images.  If you look closely you can see where I left a couple of spots white.  I wanted it to look as realistic as possible.  When you look at a flower the next time, see if you see some white spots?  Especially if the sun is shinning on it.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, Good Morning Magnolia, stamp set, Stampin Blends, Hello, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking or 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanTo get part of the flower to stick up like in the picture above, it is actually quite easy.

  • stamp your image with Memento ink
  • using the die in Magnolia Memory dies line up the flower
  • put the Big Shot plate edge where you want it to stop cutting (I did it at the score line)
  • put through the Big Shot - make sure you are cutting the side you want up to stand up
  • once you reach the score line, stop and crank the Big Shot handle the other direction
  • you don't want to cut it all the way through

You may have to trim it a little with your Paper Snips if you don't get it all the way to the score line.  When you fold your card on the score line, that part will stay up.

Now is when you want to color it.  You don't want to color the whole thing, then go to cut it, make a mistake and ruin the whole card.  Ask me how I know not to do this.  LOL

To finish off the cards, I added Wink of Stella to the flowers and stems.  I love to color, so this card was especially fun for me to make.  We also made this card in my advanced card class, not because of difficulty, due to the amount of time it took to color everything.  The ladies loved it!

I am so excited about tomorrow!  Erica and I are flying down to see Emily in Texas so we can go wedding dress shopping.  I think I am going to be feeling a lot of different emotions.  I am so happy for her, but also, can't believe my baby is old enough to be getting married.  How can that be?  I am only 29 years old!  LOL

If you think about it, we would love prayers for safe travel for this weekend for us and everyone else who is traveling.  I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and a wonderful Labor Day!

Last week I shared with you one of the cards we had made in my monthly card class using the To A Wild Rose stamp set.  If you missed it, you can click on  To A Wild Rose, to see it.  It is one of my favorite cards I had made in a long time.  This card I had seen online and love it.  I don't know who designed it, but I am glad they shared it with everyone.

I stamped the rose on Very Vanilla cardstock using Terracotta Tile ink and Old Olive ink to stamp the leaves.   I used the Wild Rose dies to both of them out.  The rose is popped with Stampin Dimensionals, but everything else is adhered using Snail adhesive.  The sentiment is from the Well Said stamp set.  I used the same colors as the rose, Terracotta Tile ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.

I am so excited about the new products in the Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday catalog!  I knew right away the Snowman Season stamp set would be at the top of my list.  If you don't already know, I LOVE SNOWMEN!!!  They make me happy!  I put them out with my Christmas decorations and keep all of my snowmen up until February 1st.  Here in Ohio it is still winter and we definitely still get snow.

I had mentioned on Monday on my Facebook live that I would be participating in a blog hop today.  Due to technical issues, I wasn't able to participate.  Hopefully next time it will work out.  The above card is the one that I made for the blog hop.  While I was making this card I figured out a great tip using the Snowman Builder punch and the Let It Snow specialty designer series paper.   I couldn't wait to share with you!

The snowman is so cute, I had to use him on my card today.  Also, from the same paper pack I used the strips and mittens designs.  They are actually on the same piece of paper, one design on the front and the other design on the back.  This card was easy to make because I could punch out the snowman and the hat from the paper.  I also punched out the arms from Early Espresso cardstock.

To A Wild Rose With Stitched All Around

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, To A Wild Rose stamp set, Stitched All Around stamp set, 2019-2020 In Color Designer series paper, Gingham Gala Sequins, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I have to be honest with all of you.  When I first saw the To A Wild Rose stamp set from the Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 annual catalog I didn't like it.  I kept looking at it and still didn't like it.  Then my best friend/assistant, Robin, asked me to teach a class using this stamp set.  I thought to myself, how am I going to do that when I don't even like the stamp set?

I started playing with it, and playing with it, and playing with it and then finally, I started to like it.  Now, I love it!  I am not sure what my problem was with this set.  Do you ever look at stamp sets and think, nope don't like it?  Then you see a card made with it, or you see and person and then say "I have to have it!"

The above card is one of the cards we made at the class.  Lately, I have been drawn to the color purple.  I have always liked it, but lately it is everywhere I look.  I must just be noticing it more now.  On this card I used the Highland Heather and Smoky Slate inks.  I haven't used this color combination before, but I like it, a lot.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, To A Wild Rose stamp set, Stitched All Around stamp set, 2019-2020 In Color Designer series paper, Gingham Gala Sequins, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanFor the leaves, I used Smoky Slate ink, but I stamped the outline full strength and then stamped off the ink for the inside.  When I use the term stamped off, it means I inked up my stamp and then stamped it on a scrap piece of paper.  Then I stamped it on my project.  Doing this technique gives you a lighter image.

I cut out the flower and leaves by using the coordinating Wild Rose dies.  Right now, if you buy both the stamp set and dies, you can save 10% by using the bundle item number.  I used Stampin Dimensionals to pop the flower and Snail adhesive for the leaves and designer series paper.  The sentiment came from the Stitched All Around stamp set and was stamped using the Highland Heather ink.  To finish off the card, I added 3 purple sequins from the Gingham Gala Sequin embellishments.

I colored three flowers and adhered them to the Petal Pink strip.  I stamped Thanks on the right hand side of the strip using Mossy Meadow ink.  I popped up the top flower with a Stampin Dimensional after I colored them and cut them out with the Magnolia Memory dies.  I added the twine from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.   I also stamped the flower image on the inside of my card and on my envelope, both in the lower left hand corner.

I love to give gifts especially when I make the gift bags and cards for them to go in.  On Monday night I showed how to make these two bags using designer series paper.  I did not come up with these on my own.  Ronda Wade was so kind to share how she made them on YouTube.

These gift bags are fast and easy and a great way to use your designer series paper.  Stampin' Up! has some of the most beautiful designer series paper that I have seen.  Are you a designer paper hoarder like me?  I have been trying to use it more and more lately.

To make this gift bag, you are going to start out with two pieces of any 12" x 12" designer series paper.  On the above bag I used Stampin' Up! Magnolia Lane designer series paper.

The measurements are below:

1st 12" x 12" designer series paper

  • score at 3" and 9"
  • on other side score at 1" (this will be the top of your bag) and 9" (this will be the bottom of your bag)

2nd 12" x 12" designer series paper

  • cut 4" off one of the sides (make sure it is on the side of your bag, not top or bottom)
  • on 8" side score at 1" and 7"
  • on 12" side score at 1" (top of bag) and 9" (bottom of bag)

To make this gift bag you are going to start with two pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.  On the above bag I used Mossy Meadow with Magnolia Lane designer series paper.

On both pieces of cardstock:

  • on 8" side score at 1 1/2" and 7"
  • on 11" side score at 2 3/4" (this will be the bottom)

Designer Series Paper

  • cut 2 at 2 1/2" x 8"
  • cut 2 at 5 1/4" x 8"

You can use the 4" piece that you cut off to make a card with it.  I will have directions and measurements for the card on Friday along with information about my Holiday catalog paper share.

On Monday night I did my Facebook live on how to make these two gift bags.  Check out the video below.

There are so many possibilities with all the beautiful designer series paper in the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  I just got my preorder from the new 2019 holiday catalog and oh my goodness, the designer series paper is so beautiful.  I keep thinking about all the different gift bags I could make with it.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday.
