On Monday night on my Facebook live, I showed how to do the Retiform Technique.  I made one of these cards a couple years ago when I was on the Stampin' Up! Creative Crew Design Team on Splitcoaststampers.  If you haven't seen that post, check it out at SCS Creative Crew September 2017.

Would you like to try out this technique?  I have the video I made on Monday night for you to see how it is done.

To make this project, you will need the following products:

Cardstock:

Early Espresso

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Whisper White

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"

I used the following inks for this project:

  • Cajun Craze
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Crumb Cake
  • Crushed Curry
  • Early Espresso
  • Mossy Meadow
  • Pumpkin Pie

The card on the left is the one I made during my Facebook live and the one on the right is the one I made before taping.

One thing that you want to make sure if you are going to try this technique, you need to have post it notes or post it note tape.  You want something you can take off and move that won't rip your paper.

Happy Fall Friday!   This is the second card that we made at my Stamp Camp using the Hello Harvest stamp set and Apple Builder punch.  When I saw this card on Pinterest, created by Cindy Brumbaugh, I knew I wanted to make it.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, Harvest Hellos, Apple Builder punch, Stitched Nestled Labels dies, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanOne thing I was trying to figure out was how did she make the basket.  Did she emboss a piece a paper and hand cut it to the shape of a basket?  I could do that, but there had to be an easier way.  So, I watched Cindy's video (click on the link to watch it), and saw how she did it.  She used the Stitched Nestled Labels dies!  What, no way!  I am so going to use this idea a lot more.

Once I cut the Crumb Cake cardstock with the Stitched Nestled Label dies, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Basket Weave embossing folder.  You are then going to cut it in half and that is how you get the basket!  Isn't that brilliant!

The little tag and bow I used the Cup of Cheer dies from the Stampin' Up! 2019 holiday catalog.  The red apple is popped up with stampin dimensionals.  On the envelope and the inside of the card I stamped the apple slice and colored it with the Crumb Cake and Real Red Stampin Write Markers.

I was looking through some of my cards that I had previously made before I started doing my blog to get ideas on what to share with you on my Facebook live on Monday.  I came across a card that I actually had made recently, but for some reason never did a blog post about it.  The technique I used is called Floating Frame.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, A Wild Rose, Wild Rose dies, Stitched Shapes dies, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanThese are the first two cards that I made with the technique.  I really like how they came out.

On Monday night on my Facebook live how showed how to make cards using the Floating Frame technique.  I made them as a fall card this time and love how they turned out.

The internet cut me off during my live, so it is in two videos.  The second one is not very long.

To make the flower you first punch out one flower from the 3" x 3" Whisper White piece of card stock, keep the piece you just punched out.  You will then punch another flower from the scrap of designer series paper.

Stamp your sentiment from the Daisy Delight stamp set using the Rococo Rose ink.  Attach the long piece of designer series paper directly onto the Whisper White card base.  You will then adhere the 3" x 3" piece of Whisper White to the front of the card (after you punch out the flower).

Take the designer series paper flower that you already punched out and you are going to line it up in the same spot that you punched out the Whisper White flower.  Adhere it using  a Stampin Dimensionals.   Add the Whisper White flower with snail on top of the first flower.

StampinUpDaisyDelightWovenThreadDSPStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman3On the inside of the card I stamped Thank you and the daisy flower and on the envelope I stamped the flower on the bottom left hand corner both using the Rococo Rose ink.

Wasn't that an easy card to make?  Anyone who be happy to get this card from you.

Have you ever looked at a card and fell in love with it immediately?  I saw this card online and fell in love immediately.  The original designer of this card was Emma Goddard, a member of the Stampin' Up! Artisan team.  Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful card.  I love to color so this was right up my alley.  The Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Magnolia Memory dies are perfect for coloring.  You know what else is awesome? You can get the stamp set and dies as a bundle and safe 10%!  I love when Stampin' Up! offers bundles.

For the pink card, I used the Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow - both dark and light - Stampin Blends.  I love these markers, they are perfect for coloring different layers of color on your projects.

For the blue card, I used the Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Mossy Meadow - both dark and light - Stampin Blends.

What is really nice is I used one sheet of paper.   This one of the simple stamping cards, which is ink, paper and stamps.  You will need

Whisper White Thick

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

I stamped the flowers and the sentiment with Memento Ink and then used the Stampin Blends for all the coloring.

I like to start with the darkest color first and go to the lightest color when I color in an images.  If you look closely you can see where I left a couple of spots white.  I wanted it to look as realistic as possible.  When you look at a flower the next time, see if you see some white spots?  Especially if the sun is shinning on it.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up!, Good Morning Magnolia, stamp set, Stampin Blends, Hello, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking or 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce WhitmanTo get part of the flower to stick up like in the picture above, it is actually quite easy.

  • stamp your image with Memento ink
  • using the die in Magnolia Memory dies line up the flower
  • put the Big Shot plate edge where you want it to stop cutting (I did it at the score line)
  • put through the Big Shot - make sure you are cutting the side you want up to stand up
  • once you reach the score line, stop and crank the Big Shot handle the other direction
  • you don't want to cut it all the way through

You may have to trim it a little with your Paper Snips if you don't get it all the way to the score line.  When you fold your card on the score line, that part will stay up.

Now is when you want to color it.  You don't want to color the whole thing, then go to cut it, make a mistake and ruin the whole card.  Ask me how I know not to do this.  LOL

To finish off the cards, I added Wink of Stella to the flowers and stems.  I love to color, so this card was especially fun for me to make.  We also made this card in my advanced card class, not because of difficulty, due to the amount of time it took to color everything.  The ladies loved it!

Last week I shared with you one of the cards we had made in my monthly card class using the To A Wild Rose stamp set.  If you missed it, you can click on  To A Wild Rose, to see it.  It is one of my favorite cards I had made in a long time.  This card I had seen online and love it.  I don't know who designed it, but I am glad they shared it with everyone.

I stamped the rose on Very Vanilla cardstock using Terracotta Tile ink and Old Olive ink to stamp the leaves.   I used the Wild Rose dies to both of them out.  The rose is popped with Stampin Dimensionals, but everything else is adhered using Snail adhesive.  The sentiment is from the Well Said stamp set.  I used the same colors as the rose, Terracotta Tile ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.

It's Monday!!!  What exciting things do you have planned for this week?  Robin and I are busy working on projects for my Holiday Extravaganza retreat!  On Saturday, Erica and I will be flying to Texas to see Emily and go wedding dress shopping.  It is going to be so much fun.  I have to make sure I am wearing waterproof mascara.  I will definitely cry.

Have a fantastic Monday!
