Every Monday night at 7:00pm I have a Facebook Live on my Stampin Scrapper Facebook page.  Since Stampin' Up! was having a day of celebrating Lovely As A Tree, I thought I should celebrate it too!  But, how was I going to celebrate it? 

One way was to share with you on my blog post on Monday my favorite Lovely As A Tree and Rooted In Nature stamp sets.  Another way was creating a fun project to demonstrate on my Facebook Live.  

As my husband, Mr. Wonderful, and I were driving home on Sunday, I noticed how pretty the trees looked against the sky.  That got my creative juices flowing on how to take that look and make it into a card.  My next step was to search Pinterest for ideas on how to do a sky background and what time of day I wanted to do.  After looking at a lot of different cards, I knew I wanted to do a sunset.  

I really like how it turned out.  I also knew I wanted to use one of the stamp sets that I hadn't used in a very long time.  As I was looking through my stamp sets, I found the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set.  It had some cobwebs on it, (not really) so it was time to brush it off and use it.  I think the sentiment is perfect for this card.  What a better way to watch the sunset and thank God for your day.

Today I am celebrating Lovely As A Tree!  Can you believe this stamp set first came out in the Stampin' Up! 2001 annual catalog.  It is hard to believe that a stamp set has been around for so long.  When I first started being a demonstrator for Stampin' Up! I ordered this stamp on my first order.  I loved it then and still do.  I am going to miss this stamp set.

Lovely As A Tree With Woodgrain Embossing Folder

I promise I have made a lot of cards with this stamp set that weren't Christmas.   I used it a lot before I started my blog on different projects, but I don't have pictures of the projects.  

Since we are saying goodbye to Lovely As A Tree, which I love, we need to say hello to Rooted In Nature.  I know if I needed a tree for any of projects I would go to Lovely As A Tree, but now I go to Rooted in Nature.  One thing that I really like in this stamp set is that there is a variety of stamps in this set.  You have sentiments, leaves, trees, a wood stamp and you can also purchase coordinating dies.  Until June 3rd you can get it as a bundle and save 10%!

I love doing my Facebook lives and am always looking for different ideas for projects to create during them.  The other day I saw a post on Facebook that was talking about different techniques using vellum.  I haven't really used vellum that much lately, so this would be perfect for my Facebook Live.   The first project I demonstrated was how to do the Stained Glass technique.  

This technique really does look like stained glass as you can see in the above picture.  The trick to making this card is, making sure when you do the embossing on the front with the Black Embossing Powder that you make sure it is totally set before working with it.  I have a tip in the video further down in this post on how to do this.

I stamped the images using the stamp set Falling Flowers, which is retiring at the end of the month.  The Stampin' Blends markers are perfect for coloring with this technique.  I colors I used were Bermuda Bay - dark, Daffodil Delight - dark, Flirty Flamingo - dark,  Highland Heather - dark, Night of Navy - light Old Olive - dark.  You could use so many different color combinations on this card.

Doesn't it look like stained glass?  I love this technique!

This is the second card I made using vellum.  I have no idea what this technique is called.  I have searched and searched looking for the name and I can't find it.  The most common name was Easy Embossed Vellum.  

To make this card you will need a stylus or something similar to it.  Stampin' Up! doesn't sell just the stylus anymore, but if you have the Stampin' Up! Score Tool  there is a stylus included with it. 

I used the Lovely Floral embossing folder for my image on the vellum and Lemon Zest stamp set for the sentiment.  Both of these products are on the retirement list.  So, if you want them, don't wait, everything is while supplies last.

Incredible Like You with Bloom to Bloom

I love the layout on this card.  The card on the right I used the Needlepoint Nook designer series paper and the card on the right I used the Happiness Blooms designer series paper.  Both cards are stamped with the Bloom to Bloom and Incredible Like You stamp sets.  All of these products are retiring at the end of the month and available while supplies last. 

Masculine Thank You

If you are like me, masculine cards can sometimes be a challenge, especially thank you cards.  On this card I used the Tranquil Textures designer series paper, Thank You framelit and the self adhesive sheets.  All of these products are retiring at the end of the month. 

Calligraphy Essentials 

When the Rooted In Nature suite came out last year I was so excited.  I really love the Nature's Poem designer series paper, and the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set.  This stamp set also has a coordinating kit, Calligraphy Essentials Project kit.  All of these products are also retiring, but the Nature's Roots framelits ARE NOT retiring.  They will be in the new 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! annual catalog.

Love What You Do 

I am so excited the Love What You Do stamp set is going to be in the new annual catalog.  However, the Share What You Love designer series paper will be retiring at the end of the month.  

Tropical Chic Treat Cups

How cute are these Sweet Cups!  I am going to miss these cups, I used them a lot.  I used the Tropical Escape designer series paper, which is retiring, to decorate the cups.  I am happy to say all the other products will be carrying over to the new annual catalog. 

His Grace Easter Card

I had a class where we made Easter cards and this was one of my favorites from that class.  I used All My Love designer series paper and the His Grace stamp set to make this card.  Both of these projects are retiring at the end of the month, but all of the other products are going to be carried over to the new 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! annual catalog.

Sliding Pop Up Card

I made this card for my mom and she loved it!  I used the stamp set from the April Paper Pumpkin kit and the Gingham Gala designer series paper.  I think this might be the paper that I will miss the most on the retirement list.   

Coffee Cafe Tunnel Card

I have used the Coffee Cups at least once a month, sometimes more, since they came out.  This is one stamp set, Coffee Cafe, and framelits, Coffee Cups, that I will be keeping for a very long time.  The stamp set and framelits are perfect for making cards and gift card holders when you give away coffee gifts cards.  For texture on this card I used the Garden Trellis embossing folder and the Garden Impressions designer series paper, which are both retiring.  

Eastern Beauty and Swirly Bird

The sentiment on this card is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and the scattered dots are from the Swirly Bird stamp set, which both of them are retiring.  The flower is from Pop of Petal stamp set and is being carried over to the new annual catalog.  The Swirly Scribbles thinlits are also retiring at the end of the month.

Dragonfly Dreams Eclipse Card

This was a fun card at my card class!  The Dragonfly Dreams stamp set with the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly thinlits are both retiring.  Also, retiring is the Large Letter Framelits.  I am sad about the Large Letter Framelits because I love them!  They are another product that I won't be getting rid of.  

Here are the colors that are also retiring this month.  The Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Fig cardstock, however, are SOLD OUT.

Who is going to miss the Gingham Gala designers series paper?  I sure am!  I am happy to let you know that the Butterfly Gala stamp set and Duet Butterfly punch are going to be in the new Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 annual catalog.  I don't know about you, but I absolutely love punches.  When I see there is a stamp set that has a coordinating punch, I get so excited!

I designed this card for one of my card classes and it was a big hit.  You could use any color in the Gingham Gala designer series paper for a total different look.  For the butterflies on this card, I stamped them in Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight and Highland Heather.  

There is one thing that I absolutely love about this stamp set.  The butterflies (small and large) are one stamp that fit perfectly with the punch.  You don't have to try and line up the two butterflies to fit perfectly with the punch.  Below is a picture of the stamp set and punch so you can see what I am talking about.

What a fun weekend!  On Friday night I had my monthly card class, Saturday I got to spend most of the day in my studio creating and getting ready for my Sale-A-Bration Celebration that I was having on Sunday afternoon.  I absolutely love having my friends over for creative time and girl time!  It fills my soul!

The above card is one of the cards that we made at my class on Friday night.  I saw a card similar to this one on Pinterest created by Susan Levasseur.  Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful creation.  I used three different stamp sets on this card, which is rare for me.  I try to use one or two on each card.  On this card I used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Touches of Texture and Wishing You Well.  All three of them are on the Stampin' Up! retirement list.  

I also wanted to showcase the retiring Stampin' Up! 2017-2019 In Colors.  I am really going to miss these colors, but at the same time, I am so excited about the new 2019-2020 In Colors.

Tonight I am having my card class where I am featuring retired stamp sets, dies and embellishments from the 2018-2019 annual catalog.  I used the Eastern Beauty and Swirly Bird stamp sets (they are retiring) and the carried over stamp set, Pop of Petals.  

I also wanted to use the 2017-2019 In Colors.  I am really going to miss them, they are so beautiful.  Here are the colors that are on the retirement list.

I cut out 2 of the circle swirls and off set them to make it look fuller.  I didn't pop anything this time because I added a pearl in the center of the flower.  I was afraid if I added a stampin' dimensional under the flower it would be too high to mail.  

I used the Powder Pink ink to stamp the flower, dots and sentiment.  I added a stamped flower to the inside of the card and on my envelope in the bottom left hand corner.

I have a very special woman in my life that I love more than life itself.  She is my best friend, my confident, my cheerleader, my rock, she is my mom.  On Saturday she turned 86 years old, which is a miracle.  The doctors told my grandma that when she was born she wouldn't live pass 3 days.  My mom was born a blue baby (I don't think they use that term anymore).  She has had health issues all of her life, so it is truly a miracle that we still have her here with us.  My mom's birthday was on Saturday and I wanted to make her a special card. 

I wanted something different, but what?  The first place I go for ideas is Pinterest.  As I was looking around, I found directions on how to make a sliding pop up card.  I was so excited!  It was different and it was so easy, which I didn't expect.  I thought this was going to be so time consuming, but it wasn't.  The only part that was a little time consuming is the coloring of the rose.  I enjoy coloring, so it didn't bother me.  

You can see a little better in this picture the details on this card.  

Here is a close up of the roses that I stamped with So Saffron ink and colored with the Daffodil Delight, light and dark, Stampin' Blends.   I stamped and colored two roses, but only cut out one of them.  For all of the stamping I used the  April 2019 Paper Pumpkin stamp set.   The stamps and projects have been so beautiful lately in the Paper Pumpkin kits.  See more about Paper Pumpkin at the end of this post.  

The amazing thing about this card, is you can fold it flat to fit inside a standard size envelope.

What do you do with your scraps of paper?  Do you use them, keep them or throw them away?  Today I have two cards to share with you that I made with scraps of paper I had laying on my craft table.  I used the same layout on both of them, but used different designer series paper.  The designer series paper I used on the left  was Needlepoint Nook and on the card on the right I used the Happiness Blooms paper.  Both of these papers are from the 2019 Stampin' Up! occasions catalog and will be retiring.  If you want these papers, I highly suggest you get them asap as once they are gone, they are gone for good.

I used the same stamp sets for both of the cards.  The sentiment is from the Incredible Like You stamp set and the little flowers are from the Bloom By Bloom stamp set.  Both of these stamp sets are also retiring.  They will be available to the middle of May and then it will be while supplies last.

Cardstock:

Night of Navy

• cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
• cut at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Balmy Blue

• cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
• cut at 2 3/8" x 2 3/8
• cut 2 at 2 7/8" x 2 7/8"

Whisper White

• cut at 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"
• cut 2 at 4" 5 1/4"

I popped the diamond shaped layer with stampin dimensionals.  When I stamped the little flowers by the sentiment, they needed something to bring them to life.  So on the all blue card I added Rhinestones

and on the multi colored card I added Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots

If you are like me, you have a lot of designer series paper and especially scraps of it.  This easy layout would be great to use some of those scrap pieces, or even using a full sheet and making multiple cards.  

Last weekend I was in San Antonio, TX for the Stampin' Up! OnStage.  My family went with me as we have never been to San Antonio, except for Emily.  It was so much fun! Here is a picture of my family at the Alamo on Friday.

On Thursday night I finally got to meet one of my best friends, Sherry, in person.  We have been friends on Facebook for almost 3 years.  We would message each other almost everyday, have video chats and talk on the phone, but never saw each other in person.  Oh my goodness!  She is beautiful, inside and out.  

After dinner we went to the Alamo and walked around and took pictures.  We were laughing so hard that we couldn't stop to get a good picture.  I do like this one though.  Have you ever met someone and thought we are so much alike it is scary.  That is Sherry and I.  Even our husbands and Erica said it is scary how much our mannerisms, how we talk and act are the same.  I am so blessed to have her in my life.

This trip was also special because I got to go with another best friend of mine, Robin.  You have heard me talk about her before on here and in my videos.  We are also a lot alike, which is even scarier.  Two more of me walking around this earth.  Yikes!  LOL

Robin and I think a lot alike, so much that we will finish each other sentences.  She is one of my best friends, team member and assistant.  I couldn't do all that I do with my Stampin' Up! business if it wasn't for her.  We have so much fun creating projects together, prepping for classes, drooling over new products, laughing, shopping, you name it, we have fun doing it.  I am so blessed to have her in my life.  

I have to say I have met most of my very good friends, through Stampin' Up!  It doesn't get any better than creating and laughing with people you love.
