Country Livin' Card for Erica

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Country Livin' stamp set #141925, Hardwood stamp set #133035, Layering Oval Framelits #141706, Stitched Shapes Framelits #145372, Designed by Stampin Scrapper, for more card, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

Every time our girls leave to go back to Texas, college or now Michigan, I always make a card and hide it in their stuff.  I didn't think they really cared about them, but I was told they look forward to them.  I guess I will keep on making them.  It sure does make a momma feel good that they look for my cards while unpacking.  This is the card that I made for Erica when she moved to Michigan yesterday.  Boy was that hard!

Erica loves her cowboy boots, jeans and t-shirts, so this set was perfect for her.  I decided to go with the blue color, because she really doesn't like the color pink.  This card could definitely be used as a masculine card too.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Soft Sky Cardstock #131203

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Smoky Slate Cardstock #131202

  • cut at 3" x 5"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" this is for the inside of the card

Watercolor Paper #122959

  • cut at 3" x 5"

I used the Smoky Slate ink to stamp the woodgrain background onto the the 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Soft Sky paper.  I adhered that piece to the card base using the Snail Adhesive and used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the Smoky Slate oval.

I used the colors of Soft Suede, Soft Sky and Dapper Denim to watercolor the boots.  I started with the Soft Sky ink all over the boots making the edges a little bit darker than the center.  I then added the Dapper Denim in so I could darken the creases and natural shading.  The straps and soles were done with the Soft Suede ink.   Then I lightly used the Smoky Slate ink to add a shadow underneath the boot and Soft Suede for the dirt lines at the back of the boot. Here is a close up picture of the boots, so you can see the shading better.

This was a fun card and sad card to make all at the same time.  On one hand it was a fun card because I love to watercolor, but on the other hand it was a sad card.  Erica began the next chapter in her life yesterday by moving far away.  I know she will do great and she is around all of my family, but I still miss her.  I know this is what we are suppose to do, but, Man, it is hard!

My preorder came yesterday and OH MY GOODNESS!  You are going to love the new holiday catalog.  I can't wait to get into my goodies, but first I get to have fun at my Christmas Card Class tonight.  I love these classes!

Don't forget if you earned your Bonus Days Coupons in July to use them this month, you have until August 31st.  I used mine this morning on my preorder, it was so nice to have the them.

Jar of Love Sympathy Workshop Card

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Jar of Love #141587, Rose Wonder #140697, designed by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I had a workshop for one of customers and she wanted me to use the Jar of Love stamp set.  She also told me she needed a sympathy card so if I could combine the two she would love it.  So I created a card using the Jar of Love stamp set along with Rose Wonder.  She loved it!

To make this card you will need the following products:

Night of Navy Cardstock #100867

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Pool Party Cardstock #122924

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5"

Wild Wasabi Cardstock #108641

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut at 2 1/4" x 4 1/4"

The flowers were stamped with Marina Mist and Night of Navy ink. When you stamp the water in the jar, I first stamped it off on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped my card.  The sentiment was stamped with the Night of Navy ink also.

Below is a picture of the inside of the card.  I also stamped the flowers on the envelope to match.

My favorite retiring products card

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Kinda Eclectic stamp set item #135350, Papillon Potpourri stamp set #123759, Flower Shop stamp set #130942, Petite Petals stamp set #133155, designed by Stampin Scrapper, please see more card and gift ideas at stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

This card is full of retiring stamp sets, but there is a new product on it.  Do you see it?  I used the retiring stamp sets Kinda Eclectic, Papillon Potpourri and Petite Petals.  The Flower Shop stamp set is in the new catalog along with the new beautiful 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon in Daffodil Delight.

To make this card fast and easy I used 3 punches, the Elegant Butterfly and Petite Petals, which are retiring, and the Pansy punch.  I just love punches, how about you?

To make this card you will need the following products:

Pear Pizzazz Cardstock #131201

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Dapper Denim Cardstock #141414

  • cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • scrap for the butterfly

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • pieces for the flowers and butterfly

The flowers and butterfly are great for using up your scraps of your Whisper White cardstock.  It makes me happy when I can use a bunch of my scraps of paper.  I hate to waste the paper, so I use it until there is just a little bit left.

The little flowers are adhered to the big flower with snail adhesive and then they are popped with a dimensional.  The Dapper Denim butterfly is attached to the white paper with snail too.  I then used glue dots on the center of the stamped butterfly.  I wanted the wings to look like they were flying.

CoffeeandChatStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman2Do you have fun plans this weekend?  We have a very busy weekend in our household.  Mr. Wonderful is headed to Texas today to help Emily pack up her apartment and her classroom.  She is moving to a new apartment in July and has to pack up her whole classroom and take everything home.  Needless to say, they will be getting a storage unit this weekend.  Erica is busy working all weekend, so if you are in the area stop into her work and say hi.

I have different commitments all weekend, but most of my weekend will be in my stampin studio!  Nobody will be home, so I will be able to get a lot done for my two stamp camps on Thursday and Friday next week and my open house next Saturday.  I am so excited to be able to just stamp, stamp and stamp some more.

We have a crazy busy June and July this year, so I am going to try and get a lot of things done ahead of time.

If you are available on Saturday, please stop in for my open house for the new catalog!  It will be from 9:00am-12:00pm on June 3rd.  We will be making two make and takes, door prizes, samples of some of the new products and food.  I am hoping Mr. Wonderful will make the food for me again.  He is such a good cook.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

In The Meadow

stampin up, Stampin' Up! In The Meadow #140754, Wood Textures DSP #144177, designed and created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

This is one of the cards that I made for my display for OnStage back in April.  I was given the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack and I added the In The Meadow stamp set.  This was such a fun card to make as I used the masking technique.

This card is another one where I used old and new products together. The stamp set, In The Meadow, is going to retire at the end of them month, but the designer series paper will be in the new annual catalog.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Early Espresso Cardstock #119686

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 2 3/4" x 5"

Very Vanilla Cardstock #101650

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" for the inside of the card
  • cut at 2 1/2" x 5 3/4"

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack #144177

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

I had mentioned earlier that I had used the masking technique on this card.  With the masking technique you cover up the section you don't want ink on.  On this card I used the 1 inch circle punch and punched out a piece of post it note.  You will want to make sure you punch out the section that has the sticky on it.  This will help keep the paper in place.

I took the piece that I had punched out the circle out of and laid it down on my small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock where I wanted the sun to go.  I then sponged inside of the circle with So Saffron and very light with the Calypso Coral inks.  I just went on the edge of the circle with the Calypso Coral and did not apply very much pressure.  I wanted it to be very light.

I took that off and put on the circle that I had punched out and stuck it on top of the sun.  I then sponged around the sun and other places on the paper with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks.  I removed the circle when I was finished and stamped my images with our Basic Black Archival ink.  To highlight areas of the mountains and trees I used our Chalk Marker.

I am in love with the new Wood Textures DSP and I think you will be too.  There are so many different colors for white washed to real dark. There is also a couple of pieces like the one I used on the above card.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Tin of Cards/Gorgeous Grunge Card

Stampin Up Stampin' Up! Tin of Cards #138946, Gorgeous Grunge #130517, Daisy Delight #143669, Daisy Punch #143713, 1/2" Circle Punch #119869, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3 D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I have used both the Gorgeous Grunge and Tin of Cards stamp sets so much that I think I might be wearing them out.  I will definitely miss both of these stamp sets.   They were my go to stamp sets when I would design cards.

Did you notice the Daisy? Really, how could you not!  LOL  This is a new punch and I absolutely love it!   I have used it so much already.  I like mixing the old with the new at this time of year.

To make this card you will need the following products.

Pool Party Cardstock #122924

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Pear Pizzazz Cardstock #131201

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Powder Pink Cardstock #144244 (this will not be available until June 1, 2017)

  • 2 3/4" x 5 1/2"

Basic Black Cardstock #121045

  • scrap for 1/2" circle

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5" for the front of the card
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" for the inside of the card

I used 3 images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I started off stamping the one image in Pear Pizzazz, then the small dots with Pool Party and finishing up with the bigger stamp with lots of little dots in Powder Pink.  The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set and is stamped with the Basic Black Archival ink.

To make the flower I punched out two of the flowers using the Daisy Punch.  I used snail adhesive to adhere them and then used a dimensional to attach it to my card.  I added a 1/2" circle using Basic Black cardstock.

On the inside of the card and on the envelope I used a stamp that has 3 little daisies and stamped it with Powder Pink Ink on the bottom of each.

Traveler Masculine Card

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Traveler stamp set #134513, Gorgeous Grunge stamp set #130517, Birthday Blossoms stamp set #139471, Thick Very Vanilla Baker's Twine #138411, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to Stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I needed a card for Mr. Wonderful's brother, so I went through the retiring stamp sets to see which one would be perfect for him.  I decided on the Traveler along with the Gorgeous Grunge and Birthday Blossoms stamp sets.  I am going to miss the first two stamp sets as they are retiring at the end of the month.  The Birthday Blossoms stamp set will still be in the new catalog.  Yay!

To make this card you will need the following products:

Early Espresso Cardstock #119686

  • cut 2 at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4" one for front of the card and one for inside the card
  • cut at 3" x 3 1/4"

Very Vanilla Cardstock #101650

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4" one for front of the card and one for inside the card
  • cut at 2 3/4" x 3"
  • cut at 2" x 2 1/4" for the suitcase

The first thing to do to make this card is to use the strip stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set and Crumb Cake ink.  I first inked up my stamp and then stamped off before stamping on to my paper. Stamped off means you will first stamp on a scrap piece of paper and then onto your paper you are using for your card.  This gives it a lighter stamped image.  Stamp the strips all the way down and don't worry that they don't go to the edge.  Then, stamp the train onto the medium sized Very Vanilla paper and the suitcase on the smallest paper.

I then took a Stampin' Sponge and inked it up with Crumb Cake ink and sponged all the sides of the paper with the lines and train on it.  If you want to you can use it on the suitcase too.  After you fussy cut the suitcase I recommend you go around the edges lightly.  This is so you don't see any of the areas that you might not have cut up to the stamped image.

I used dimensionals to put on my big Early Espresso paper because of the Thick Baker's Twine.  Otherwise, it will have a bump under the twine. I also used dimensionals on the suitcase.

On the inside of the card I used the "Happy Birthday" stamp from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.  I also, stamped the suitcase on the left hand corner and on my envelope.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!

I saw this card by Melissa Kerman on Pinterest when I was looking for different techniques to do for my class.  I thought, oh my, I could never make that.  But, I did!!!  The technique is called tarnished foil and it is not difficult to make, just quite a few steps.  I found a wonderful step by step tutorial on splitcoaststampers.com by Melissa on how to make this card.  Click HERE for her directions.

I don't usually send you to another website for directions, but she does such a wonderful job and has a video with it.  I haven't started doing videos yet, and with this card I think it is very helpful.

Here is another picture of two of them that I made and neither one of them is the same.  They will all look just a little different, which is something I like.

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/impressionsoftarnishedfoil/

You probably have noticed a new product on this card.  It is the 1/4" Copper Trim that I wrapped around the card.  It is such a wonderful product.

CoffeeandChatStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman2We had a busy weekend with the grand Randall's.  There parents were gone to a wedding so we got to spend the whole weekend with them.  We had so much fun!  We went to the park on Friday night and I am not sure who was the bigger kid, the kids or Mr. Wonderful.  We came home and had our movie and popcorn and off to bed!

On Saturday we went to Sam's and they found this really neat sidewalk chalk kit.  There are pieces that look like ice cream.  Yum! They had a lot of fun playing with that and getting all dirty.  Isn't that what kids are suppose to do?

For lunch we went to see Erica at work.  They thought that was the best thing ever,   Blysse, the youngest, had a hard time figuring out why Erica couldn't carry her around.

On Sunday we took them to church with us and it was a special day for another one of my daycare angels.  Knox was dedicated!  What a perfect day, Mother's Day to do that.  He is just so precious!

Here are some pictures of our fun weekend.

Happy Mother's Day Pop And Twist Card

This is year for Mother's Day I made my mom and my mother in law a special card.  I made a creative fold card called pop and twist.  Most of these type of cards have 4 panels on the inside of the card, but this one has 6.  I would like to thank Lisa J for sharing her directions on how to make this card on Pinterest.  They were wonderful!

I used some current, retiring and new products to make this card.  On the front of the card you see the beautiful Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and the Daisy Punch from the new catalog.

The Organza Ribbon is on the retiring list, and all other products are in the current annual catalog, including Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White, both thick and regular, cardstock.  The letters were made using the Large Letter Framelits.

It's that just the neatest thing, how it pops up when you open the card.  I really wish you could see better how the colors compliment the designer series paper.

You will have to make your own envelope (I used our envelope punch board) as the finished size is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".  I have a trick when making the envelope since this card is quite thick.

I put the card in the middle of the envelope and brought the two side flaps in and then adhered the bottom flap.  This way you know you are making it the correct thickness you need for the card.  This card will take extra postage if you are mailing it.

Over the weekend we were going over our schedule for the summer. It is going to be a busy, but fun summer.  I am going to see my mom in Michigan and go on a wine tour with the ladies in my family.  This is our third year doing it, and it is always so much fun.  This year we are getting t-shirts made for the occasion.

My mom is known as the "party grandma" of the family.  LOL  Well, we wanted to include her in the t-shirts, even though she won't be able to go with us.  So, my niece came up with the name "Party Grandma's Posse".  I love it!  Per my mother's request, they have to be blue like the water in the bay in Traverse City, MI.  Once we get the t-shirts, I will have to post a picture.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a happy hump day!

Black Magic Technique using Grateful Bunch

Stampin up, Stampin' Up! Grateful Bunch #140691, Birthday Blossoms #139471, Black Magic Technique, designed by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to Stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

Black Magic!!!  Hmmm, what makes it magic?  You get to color on black paper with watercolor pencils and it shows!  This is such a stunning technique and an easy one too!  That is the best kind.

I have used one of our retiring stamp sets for the flower, Grateful Bunch.  It is the perfect flower for this technique.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Rich Razzleberry Cardstock #115316:

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Basic Black Cardstock #121045

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Melon Mambo Cardstock #115320

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut at 4: x 5 1/4" this is for inside of the card

To make the black magic happen you first start by stamping your image with White Craft Stampin Ink #101731.  This product is on the retired list, but will be coming back in the new catalog reformulated. It will come to you with no ink in the pad, you will ink it with the refill.

You then you your heat tool to dry and set the image.   This step is very important, because if your image is not dry it is going to smear when you go to color it.  I used our Watercolor Pencils when I colored mine.  You can see in the picture below a close up of the flower.  You can see my coloring a lot better.

I used the Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry pencils.  I first started coloring the whole image lightly with the Daffodil Delight.  I needed a base color to cover the image.   Then I used the Rich Razzleberry around the center of the flower to give my flower some depth.

After that I colored with the Melon Mambo pencil starting by overlapping a little bit with the Rich Razzleberry.  I then took the Melon Mambo and went up one side of my petal.  The center of the flower was colored with the Pumpkin Pie pencil.  To give it a little bit of sparkle, I put Wink of Stella on the center of the flower.  Because I was going over watercolor pencils, you will need to clean off the tip of your Wink of Stella on a piece of scrap paper or paper towel.

This is a fun technique where you can add a lot of color to dark paper.

In our home we love to celebrate birthdays.  We have a tradition that started out as a weekend, now is a week and is quickly growing to a month.  What is it you ask?  We have a birthday weekends.  So, over the weekend my family had to do whatever I wanted to do.  You get to pick the places we eat at if we are going out, what you want to do and get waited on.

To help celebrate my birthday, I am having blog candy!!!!  I am giving away the Delicate Details stamp set along with a Pink Pirouette ink pad.  For you chance to win, all you have to do is leave me a comment and I will randomly draw a name.  I will pick the winner on Wednesday, May 3rd.

Over the weekend, Mark took me out to lunch on Saturday and made me my favorite stir fry for dinner.  I wanted to get the house cleaned on Saturday so Mr. Wonderful (aka Mark) helped me the whole time! Then to finish the night out we had Ritter's Frozen Custard.  Oh my goodness, it is so good.

Yesterday, my friend Bobbi and I reorganized and cleaned out the kitchen at our church.  Bobbi went to throw away some garbage in the big dumpster and dropped her phone in it.  Over the last couple of days we have had a lot of rain, so there was about 2 inches of water in there.  The only way we could get it out was for one of us to climb in there.  Well, her phone, she gets to climb in.  Ok, the real reason was I was laughing so hard I couldn't have done it if I tried.

It was quite comical the whole time.  I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time.  I do believe at one time, I had to cross my legs or there was going to be an accident happening.  LOL  Here are some pictures of our fun adventure.

I have been so blessed to have Bobbi as one of my best friends and sister in Christ.  My life is so much better having her in it!

Thank you for stopping in today!  I hope you have a marvelous Monday!
