Fall Friday 2021 Week 7 - Celebrate Sunflowers
10/22/2021
This week for my Fall Friday project, I have a card that I made using two different techniques. The first technique I used was the spotlight technique. For this technique you only color the stamped image that is on the top piece of the white cardstock.
To do this technique, you first put the small piece of white cardstock on top of the larger piece using repositionable tape (or you can use Stampin' Seal and rub it on your pants a couple of times so it picks up the lint from them so it is less sticky). I then used Memento ink to stamp the images and colored them in using Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. You can see around the edges that the images didn't stamp perfectly and that is alright. I will be adding a piece of black cardstock as a mat to the small piece of white cardstock that will cover it up.
The second technique I used was the masking technique. I needed to use this technique so I could add the leaves to my sunflowers. The first thing you need to do is cut out the shape of the image you need to cover up. I was so happy when I realized that in the Sunflowers dies, there was a die that cut perfectly around the sunflower. You need to use copy paper to cut out the image as cardstock is too thick and that will cause you not to get a nice image around the edges.
You will want to use the repositionable tape again, so you can remove the cutout when you are done stamping. I colored the leaves using the Old Olive Stampin' Blends.
To make this project you will need the following paper. For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.
Cardstock:
Black
- cut at 4 1/4" x 11" score at 5 1/2"
- cut at 3 1/8" x 4 3/8"
Basic White
- cut at 2 7/8" x 4 1/8"
- cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
I stamped the sunflower on the inside of the card and on the envelope.
Have you tried either the spotlight or masking technique? I hope my project today gives you inspiration to go and try them for the first time, or use them on your next project if you already know how to create with them.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic Friday and weekend.
Sending lots of love and hugs to everyone!
Happy Stampin!
