At my stamp camps I use one stamp set and show how to create 3 different cards using that stamp set. This is one of the cards from my class that we made using the Sheltering Tree stamp set from the annual catalog. I also showed my class how to use the spotlight technique. Have you tried that technique yet? This technique it pretty simple and has such an impact on your card.
To do the spotlight technique you are going to take the small piece of Very Vanilla paper and attach it to the big piece of Very Vanilla. When you attach it you want to use removal tape. If you don't have that you can use snail adhesive, with a little trick. You put a small amount, about the size of a pea, of tape on the back of the little piece of paper. Then you take your finger and tap, tap, tap on top of the tape. What this does is take off some of the stickiness from the tape. You don't want your piece to stay there permanently, just while you are stamping.
When you put your little piece of paper on the big piece you want to make sure that is where you are wanting it on the finished project. Once you have that stamp your tree with Early Espresso ink. You may have a little gap between the two pieces of paper on the stamped image, but that's ok. You are going to put a mat under the top piece that will hide it.
Take off the top piece and place it on a piece of scrap paper. This is when you are going to stamp the leaves in So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze. You want to start with the So Saffron and stamp a little to the right on the tree. Then you will stamp with the Pumpkin Pie ink and move the stamp a little to the left and turn it slightly. You don't want to stamp directly over the first leaves you stamped. You want to be able to see the different colors and a variation of where the leaves are. You will do the same thing with the Cajun Craze ink.
To get the leaves looking like they are blowing off of the tree I took the little stamp with leaves on it in the set and stamped them off to the side. Once you have the leaves stamped you adhere that piece to your small piece of Cajun Craze. Then you are going to line up your tree and adhere it to the big piece of Very Vanilla with Snail adhesive. You don't want to pop this as you want it to look like it is all one piece. That is how you do the spotlight technique! What do you think?
I added my sentiment using the Early Espresso ink. For the inside of my card and on my envelope I used the little stamp with leaves and stamped the bottom of both with the three colors. The picture below shows you how I did it.
Did you notice how I cut the card base this time? It opens from the side! I wanted to something different for this card. I saw this card on Pinterest and the wonderful Tami White created it.
To make this card you will need the following paper. For a complete list of all the products I used, please see the end of this post.
- cut at 1 3/8" x 4 3//8"
- cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
- cut at 1 1/4" x 4 1/4"
- cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4" one for the inside and one for the front
Thank you for stopping by today! Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for my Fall Friday project. I think you are going to love it!
