Dollar Tree Candle Holder Directions

StampinUpIttyBittyGreetingsDollarTreeCandleHolderStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman

I have received several request for the directions for the Dollar Tree candle holders that I posted in June.  If you missed the original, click HERE.   I needed to make a couple more of them, so it was perfect time to take pictures and show you how to make them.  On the above holders I used the Nature's Poem designer series paper, which is available in the buy 3 get one FREE promotion.  See all the details at the bottom of this post.

To make this project you will need the following products:

Cardstock:

Calypso Coral or Tranquil Tide

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" score at 1 3/8" on each side
  • cut at 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" score at 3/4" on each side
  • cut at 2 5/8" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Nature's Poem designer series paper

  • cut at 2 3/8 x 3 1/2"
  • cut three at 1 1/4" x 2 5/8"

This project may look hard, but it is actually pretty easy.  Here are the directions on how to make this candle holder.

On the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock score all sides at 1 3/8" on all sides and fold on your score lines.  Cut on the score line from the edge of the paper to the score line.  You will do this on two sides of the paper (across from each other).  I also cut a little bit to the side of the score line off to make it easier to attach it to cardstock and make sure it was straight.  I used Tear and Tape on the tabs, but you can use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue too.  Fold up the sides and tabs and create the box for the bottom of the holder.

On the 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" cardtock score at 3/4" on all sides.  Before you do any cutting you will want to take a framelit from the Layering Circle Framelits and cut it out.  This is going to create the hole for the candle to sit in.  After cutting it out you will do the same steps as above to create the box.  This will fit inside of the box you made above.  However, do not put it in the box yet, as you need to do a couple more steps first.

For the back of the box you are going to take the 2 5/8" x 8 1/2" piece and score it at 4 1/4".  Once scored fold the paper and half and glue it together.  I used snail adhesive on this step, but you can use whatever adhesive you have available.  I then put Tear and Tape on the bottom of the piece and adhered to the INSIDE of the box.  This is going to be the back of your box.  You want to make sure you put it in the inside of the box, not the outside.

Now it is time to add your designer series paper on to the section you just did (the back piece) and on the sides and front of the bottom box.  Add the section that holds the candle and you are almost finished.

Now you can decorate it any way you would like.  I used the Happy Birthday greeting from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set along with the Pop of Petals stamp set.  The Pop of Petals has a coordinating Four Petal Flower Punch which is also available as a bundle.  I love that you are able to get the Pop of Petals stamp set and the four petal Flower punch as a bundle and save 10%!  To punch out the sentiment I used the Classic Label punch.  I added Rhinestones to the center of the flower and on the sentiment.

Thank you so much, Joyce, for the directions! My candles have been sitting in my craft room and I haven't been able to come up with a holder to place them in! Thanks for your inspiration!
